Over 100 years ago, Rilke gives us guidance on how to live a human life, filled with the beauty and terror of existence.  Join me for a day of immersion into this writing, as we create a visual poem, an expression of what it is to be awake and alive in the face of it all.

God speaks to each of us as he makes us,
then walks with us silently out of the night.
These are the words we dimly hear:
You, called forth by your senses,
reach to the edge of your longing.
Embody me.
Flare up like flame
and make big shadows I can move in.
Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror.
Just keep going. No feeling lasts forever.
Don’t lose touch with me.
Nearby is the country they call life.
You will know it by its intensity.
Give me your hand.

We will use paint, collage, words and images to express the life we are living.  We will layer our feelings and longings. We will invoke the beauty of the moment and not shy away from the terrifying.  Will you join me on this courageous adventure?
